This has got to be the raddest project I’ve been privileged to work on in a long while! I couldn’t have done this without Joshua, Lindsey, Chandler & the rest of the Central Ops team.
We only had two weeks to concept and complete this 32-page magazine. It is perfect bound and has a perforated reading plan in it for people to tear out and use as a bookmark in their Bible as they read through the book of John.
The My Story magazine is for new believers who have just accepted Christ as their Savior and is something that we would hand out as an addition to a free Bible. It is packed with some great stories about people being found by Jesus and how He helped them through trying times, ultimately showing that God is living and active today as much as He is in the Bible.
If you want to flip through a digital version of the magazine that my man Jon made, you can go here: http://newspring.cc/magazine/
Here is an inside look on the My Story Magazine process that my awesome friend and boss Joshua and I went through (I will be showing the final piece here in a few days!). I have learned a lot since being in Anderson and working at NewSpring. I love how we really had to push to get this piece out of the door. Two weeks of running and gunning to get this to press was a fun challenge!
Here are some photos of the specific stages of the process. I loving seeing the overall process from other people, so I’m really hyped to be able to show this, ultimately producing what is my favorite project in a long time!
This wouldn’t have been possible without the whole Central Ops team and several ministries who were apart of the proofing process!
Here are a few things that I’ve worked on in the past few weeks! I’m so blessed to get to do what I do and to see it all have a impact! I worked on some NewSpring Leadership Conference branding and designed the main booth graphic that we had up at our recent Unleash conference.
The new NLC website was something I got to design and my man Jon did the development for it. I also got to do some photography for an Unleash postcard that the rad designer Lindsey put together!
These stickers were passed out at NewSpring Church during the Overwhelmed series. They are small enough to fit on journals, cellphones, your mirror and anywhere else for you to have a constant reminder that God Is Great & God Is Able!
I’m excited that I was able to design these stickers using my buddy Chandler’s recently released typeface Cubano.
I had a buddy of mine who asked me to create a Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog themed Valentine’s Day Card for his girlfriend. It was fun to do the illustrations for this project and to be introduced to the web series. I love doing cool projects like this!
A new series is starting at NewSpring Church called Overwhelmed. I did five out of ten illustrations, represented on this mailer, along with the design of the direct mail piece. All of the illustrations are to show things that overwhelm us in our lives.
I was able to hang out with the awesome NewSpring Worship Band during their album release concert last weekend! These guys put on an awesome show and here are some photos I grabbed during their performance.
This is a set of three t-shirts that I designed for NewSpring Church’s middle & high school youth called Fuse. They wanted some shirts for the kids to buy going into the holiday season.
These are the first t-shirts that I’ve done in awhile and I’m pumped about how they turned out!
I just got the rest of this campaign in the mail from a church plant in SF which includes door hangers and large postcards. I’m hyped that I finally have all of this photographed!
I also learned that a ton of people came to the opening for the church because of the campaign which is a great win!
The Explorers Club came to me with this idea of shooting a music video that had a documentary vibe with an idea of what it’s like to be at one of their shows. I was really excited about doing this for them and I had a lot of fun listening to their rad Beach Boys sound while we filmed.
This video is a teaser for the new album that is coming out early 2012 and also gives a look at what the music videos will look like when they are released.
I recently had the opportunity to work on a print campaign where I was able to affect the community that I lived in for past seven years. Oddly enough, this happened right when I left San Francisco!
I was approached to create an ad campaign for this church plant with an awesome vision for reaching the people in the city and it was a great partnership where I helped create door hangers, postcards, and two MUNI ads.
Below you will see the MUNI ads that really started the whole look and feel for the project with its testimonial vibe.
I’ll be posting the other pieces of this project as they come in from the client.
This book started when I decided to send my wife postcards every day for several months while we lived in San Francisco. I knew I wanted to make a book out of them for our two year wedding anniversary. I didn’t know that these would document our last several months in San Francisco before moving over to South Carolina.
I did not design the postcards but only sent them to my wife everyday and assembled the book and designed the inside spreads and cover. The postcards that I used can be found here: 100 McSweeney’s Postcards and Hi Postcard Book.
My father tells the story of how he was saved at 5:15am on Saturday August 6th, 2011.
I had the honor of baptizing my father and I am so excited about how raw and passionate his love for Jesus is. Seeing this change in my father is AMAZING and I can’t get over how awesome Jesus is!

Here’s a video I shot and edited when I was working for Gensler. It’s now live and I’m pumped to post it up finally!
A shared meal and passion for a brand blossomed into a true collaboration between McEvoy Ranch and Gensler, leading to a 258 square foot retail store in San Francisco’s Ferry Building that embodies the spirit of the 550 acre Ranch, and the mutual commitment to authenticity, generosity and family.
I just wrapped up a night of shooting in downtown Charleston with The Explorers Club and it was so rad to capture the vibe of Rogue Wave Surf Shop with these talented musicians! Here are some production shots that my wife captured and sneak peek stills from the upcoming music video.
I spent a long day Monday out at McEvoy Ranch doing a shoot for Gensler this week and these are some stills from the footage. McEvoy Ranch is quite possibly one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to in California.
Last week I was out in Chicago at Hamburger University shooting a short documentary about one of Gensler’s big annual meetings. It was where the firm sets their vision for the year 2020 and here are a few production shots from the shoot.
I’m working on some rad stickers, letterhead, envelopes, and business cards from the GERAÇÃO 80 project out of Angola. I hope to have my hands on these ASAP! Stay tuned for final photos of the real products soon!
I just wrapped up the album design of the Earl Zero “Marketplace” album and I’m really stoked with the way that it came out and it’s out now on iTunes & Amazon! Siahvash Dowlatshahi did a great job with all of the music he did and with bringing this entire project to life. You can purchase the album from iTunes, Amazon, and CDBaby.
I just got back from South Carolina after shooting the principle photography for a short documentary. Here are a few stills from the footage of what is soon to be in post-production!
I had a shoot today where I photographed Earl Zero for his upcoming album, “Marketplace”. Here’s a look at the behind the scenes look at shoot and the final photo selected for the cover. Stay tuned for the full release in the coming months!
Some photos I shot for a recent issue of Dialogue, a publication that Gensler pushes has come back from the press. You can look in the photo of the credits to see the stuff that I did.
The Academy of Art University has an alumni magazine that goes out every so often and I was selected to show a sample of my work and provide a quick bio.
This is some news from the years passed and since I now have a blog, it makes sense to do a quick recap. Some photos I shot for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation were used for their brand identity. The logo was then reviewed by Brand New which was pretty exciting. I was also written about in the Academy of Art University’s New Media blog and the work I did for Compost Modern ’09 was put out, where we interviewed the speakers.
This logo identity I did awhile back for a nonprofit called Hip to Help. The ad was published in Juxtapoz for an upcoming art show for Shepard Fairey, Mike Giant, and other rad artists in San Francisco’s White Walls Gallery.
Some photographs I did when I was in South Carolina were used for this company’s site where they market the motors they create for various devices.
